Reading the colours

Quiet is green, Moderate is amber, and Busy is red. During this beta, these are estimates of activity in each place's recorded daytime index range, not measured crowd density or guaranteed walking conditions. The rating basis remains available under “How to read this”.

A fixed reference

Each rated place has its own index boundaries. The first reference uses accepted observations collected before 22 September 2026, between 08:00 and 23:00 Shanghai time. These are reference hours, not opening hours. Repeated responses and old page clocks are screened, and each observed hour contributes one median. The 10th and 90th percentiles anchor the range, which is divided into three bands.

The reference stays fixed while new readings arrive. More observations can support a revised reference after review, but do not automatically prove closer agreement with on-site conditions. A low point in an already crowded reference period may still feel busy.

When history is limited

Some places show Quieter than usual, About usual or Busier than usual instead. These compare with the publisher's baseline using a ±20% band. We retain this comparison until there is enough varied history for a place-specific reference.

Times and history

Updated shows the age of the saved reading, using the older known collection or page clock. Collected is when we first obtained the saved payload. Older readings keep their colour and original time; refreshing the page does not make them new.

Chart dots use the same current place-specific reference as the main card. Hover, tap or focus a dot for its exact collection time, index and level. Axis labels use round Shanghai clock times; observations are not rounded. Where history is limited, colours use that observation's own usual-level comparison. Gaps over 90 minutes stay disconnected. Missing comparisons and opening notices remain neutral.

Sources and scope

Published crowd indexes stay on one data series. A second source is saved for offline conversion research, not silently substituted. The monitored areas and underlying sampling have not been independently verified, and reuse permissions remain under review. This is an independent service, not an official tourism or safety service.

Ride waits

Shanghai Disneyland's posted waits come from Queue-Times.com and stay in minutes. A non-operating ride is not a zero-minute opportunity; ride statuses alone do not establish that the park is closed.

Your privacy

Your last viewed reading stays in your browser for up to seven days, separately for each place and series. No analytics backend, visitor identifier or location request is configured. The share button copies this page's link with fixed UTM tags identifying a shared link, not a person or messaging app. These tags do not collect analytics on their own. It does not contact a social network. Your host may process ordinary access logs.
